What are the responsibilities and job description for the LGBTQIA+ Resource Center Coordinator position at DePaul Talent Acquisition?
What You'll Do:
- Supports the mission by creating an inclusive environment to support student success. Develops and maintains institutional and non-institutional student referral sources for LGBTQIA students. Initiates referrals for students to services such as Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Counseling Center, etc. Coordinates, plans and implements cultural and intersectional programs and activities to promote awareness, understanding, and appreciation of a diverse and inclusive campus community.
- Oversees the operation of the LGBTQIA Resource Center space; facilitating a safe and supportive environment for students. Supervises graduate and undergraduate student staff and manages the Center’s assigned budget resources.
- Serves as a collaborative partner with the other Centers to create programs and services to address the intersectional nature of identities. Serves as a liaison to university academic partners such as LGBTQ Studies, Women and Gender Studies, the Women's Center, and works with partners to provide programs, resources and services for students, faculty, and staff.
- Serves as a proactive resource for LGBTQIA student organization leaders and advisors.
- Assesses and reports to university leaders on effectiveness of programs, services and student academic progress and persistence.
- Serves on university, divisional, and departmental committees as assigned. Interprets university policy to students, student groups, staff and parents.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of the Cultural & Resource Centers
- Direct supervision of one graduate assistant and multiple undergraduate student staff.
- Manages the assigned budget resources.
- Bachelor's degree required in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Women and Gender Studies, or related fields with specific coursework and training in LGBTQIA subjects.
- 1-3 years of experience in community development, program management and advising with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of race/ethnicity/class, college access issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues significant to LGBTQIA people in diverse communities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues significant to diverse communities.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement educational and informational programs in a diverse cultural environment and to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
- Must possess excellent individual, group, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Must possess effective counseling and intervention skills.
- Professional record of advocating for marginalized student populations, especially in a university setting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
