Part-time Faculty Positions
DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

Responsibilities:The Theatre School at DePaul University invites applications for a Full-Time faculty to serve as head of its Sound Design program.
The Theatre School is an urban multicultural conservatory located in the heart of Chicago's vibrant theatre community.
The ideal candidate will be a great teacher, accomplished professional, strong collaborator, visionary designer and technician, and a proactive leader.
The position begins September of 2025.
Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
- Lead and further develop the BFA Sound Design Program
- Teach a range of courses across the Sound Design Program according to the candidate's expertise
- Prepare students for diverse and multicultural work environments
- Collaborate with Sound Shop manager and staff to maintain the studio and supply needs
- Advise students on academic progress
- Mentor and advise on student production work and internships
- Recruit new students and develop enrollment
- Hire and collaborate with adjunct instructors
- Experience in teaching mentoring, advising, and/or supervising young people
- Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to equitable practices
- Evidence of a diverse, professional production and/or client portfolio
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing antiracism practices
- Extensive knowledge of sound design and technology, including DANTE, MIDI and OSC, and analog and digital sound technologies, for various theatrical spaces.
- Knowledge of innovative technologies and interest in incorporating them into the curriculum.
- Experience in fostering an inclusive and affirming collaborative environment.
- Ability to support students across the gender spectrum.
- Extensive experience collaborating with Designers at all levels.
- Experience with a variety of dramatic forms and venues or media
- Professional experience equivalent to and/or a terminal degree in Sound Design and Technology or related fields
- Demonstrated commitment to a just theatre community and personal collaboration

About DePaul University's Academic Calendar:
Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).
