Job Requirements:
- Twelve (12) continuous months of experience
- Current and valid Medical Assistant Certificate from an agency approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California, to practice as a Medical Assistant
- Possess Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association Provider or
American Red Cross (with AED); - Be proficient in the English language and be able to communicate effectively
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
The Temporary/Relief Medical Assistant will perform a variety of administrative and clinical duties, which include procedures as regulated by certification such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Administer basic life support in emergencies to patients/youth and staff;
- Use medical equipment safely;
- Administer intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections and skin tests;
- Administer eye/ear washes;
- Administer prescribed medications topically, sublingually, and orally;
- Administer basic breathing treatments;
- Remove casts, splints, sutures, and other external devices;
- Change simple dressing;
- Collect blood via capillary and venipuncture techniques;
- Collect lab specimens using appropriate collection equipment; label specimens appropriately for evaluation;
- Other duties as assigned per job description
