Summary and Scope
The CAD Drafter will support the CAD Department for Deployed Resources by designing schematics, 3D printing, 3D assembly, and maintaining 3D printers. This role also involves creating new production drawings with elevations and modifying 2D site maps.
Essential Functions
- 3D Printing and Assembly
- Prepare files for 3D printing.
- Clean and assemble 3D prints.
- Maintain 3D printers3.
- Drawing Preparation and Modification
- Preparation of production drawings.
- Prepare and modify drawings for job sites.
- Use various references such as SOW, client knowledge, and notes from previous jobs for job site drawings.
- Prepare dimensional, installation, and more complex drawings.
- Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes, ensuring consistent project documentation.
- Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and other documentation as requested by the CAD Manager.
- Revise and update drawings to ensure consistent documentation of the projects.
- Coordination and Information Source
- Participate in and sometimes lead coordination meetings to meet internal client needs, constructability, and code requirements.
- Serve as an information source on planning and designing equipment installations.
- Documentation and Standards
- Maintain notes, design calculations, and other documentation (e.g., drawings, bill of materials, design parameters, and performance guarantees) following CAD Department Standards and Best Practices.
- Follow guidelines to keep drawings up to date.
- Perform other duties related to CAD database maintenance as required.

Skills and Specifications
- Extensive experience with Autodesk programs – AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion, Vault, etc.
- Basic understanding of all facets of construction blueprints (architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and special systems)
- Understanding of drafting conventions and standards
- Fluency of 3D design and modeling (Blender, 3D Studio Max and other programs etc)
- Fluency in reading 2D and plans, electronically and hard copy
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam software
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creativity and artistic ability
- Time management skills, including the ability to meet project deadlines
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required
- Associate degree is desired
- CAD Career Certificate, CAD Technical Certificate (or equivalent) is required
- 2 years’ relevant experience, to include:
- 3D design and printing
- AutoCAD software
- Commercial or industrial manufacturing
- Production Designs
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see, hear, sit for extended periods, stand, walk, engage in repetitive motions, and use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, tools, or controls. May lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
Expected Hours of Work
The ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs. It is expected for this position to attend regular meetings during typical work hours in Eastern Standard Time as well as meetings as needed for assigned projects in other time zones.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and field environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other presentation materials. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.
Travel
This position requires up to 20% travel. Travel is dependent on contract load. The ability to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time based on contract needs is required. Short notice travel is required with 24-48 hours’ notice.
Work Authorization
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS)
