Expected Pay Range : $27.50 hourly plus $4.98 H&W. Day rate $375 of when traveling to South Texas
Summary and Scope
The Mobile Mechanic is primarily responsible for equipment maintenance and rehabilitation of Deployed Resources vehicles and facilities as assigned. The Mobile Mechanic's secondary responsibilities include the execution of contract work at job sites as assigned. This role requires servicing multiple locations; therefore, the ability to travel between Laredo, Eagle Pass, and Donna is essential.
Essential Functions
- Diagnose and repair heavy duty trucks and trailers including brakes, suspension, lights, and tires.
- Perform engine maintenance and repairs on diesel motors.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on gasoline motors.
- Knowledge and understanding of DOT requirements for braking systems, air systems, lights, and electrical.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose Check engine lights, wiring and electrical issues, air system problems, and more.
- Knowledge of engine repairs for Cummins, Detroit, and Power stroke.
- Knowledge of vacuum and pump systems, including the ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic systems as it relates to heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Perform basic welding fabrication and repairs.
- Also assist with maintenance and repairs to containerized assets.
- Perform general maintenance functions for temporary facilities, buildings, and tented structures to include carpentry or similar repairs.
- Install all above systems under guidance of licensed or trained supervisors.
- Perform ground maintenance and limited site work tasks as needed.
- Perform equipment operation onsite as required (training will be provided).
- Perform daily / scheduled maintenance checks and services on Government Equipment, Company trucks and equipment.
- Operate site equipment to include but not limited to forklifts, tractors, work carts, yard maintenance equipment (training will be provided).
- Assist with maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
- Repair company equipment as needed to maintain serviceable condition.
- Coordinate service calls when required.
- Become familiar with basic technology for self-service (W2, pay stub), training, and asset tracking.
- Execution of contract work at job sites as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see, hear, stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, climb, engage in repetitive motions, and use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, tools, or controls. May routinely and repetitively lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted (or heavier with the use of proper equipment and procedures).
Expected Hours of Work
The ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs. It is expected for this position to attend regular meetings during typical work hours in Eastern Standard Time as well as meetings as needed for assigned projects in other time zones.
Work Environment
This job operates in workshop, facility, and field environments. We operate 24 / 7 / 365, inside and outside, in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, hand tools, site equipment and vehicles, and is required to use and wear standard PPE, which will be provided by the company. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.
Travel
This position requires up to 90% travel. Travel is dependent on contract load. The ability to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time based on contract needs is required. Short notice travel is required with 24-48 hours' notice.
