What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guard III position at Deployed Services?
Guard III is responsible for ensuring the Guard staff adhere to Deployed Services Security (DSS) standards as well as those of our customers at worksites. This includes, but is not limited to, leading the guards and subordinate supervisors in carrying out the plan for each day, as directed by superior officers. They oversee operational results and improve standard operating procedures accordingly.
Essential Functions:
In addition to providing physical security, this role will be participated in by Deployed Services, LLC’s G.E.T. principals. Greet, Engage and Thank individuals for their business or patronizing the location. These duties include:
- Authorizes overtime, leave, and training requests; prepares work schedules; establishes and evaluates goals and objectives; directs and focuses staffing
- Subject to the direction and control of the captain, assumes the role as the second officer in charge of the Site Department, in this capacity, working through the Sergeants/Officers, he/she has direct control over all members and employees
- Possesses full line authority, as well as staff authority, and assumes the powers, duties, and responsibilities of the captain in their absence on site
- Trains and develops subordinates, evaluates subordinates and completes performance appraisals, reviews subordinate supervisor appraisals of officers and staff
- Establishes guidelines for the subordinate supervisors on inspection of facilities, equipment, and personnel; establishes protocol guidelines; oversees that a proper inventory control in the department is maintained; sets short-term objectives and goals in the division
- Identifies operational and administrative deficiencies and recommends changes; makes recommendation to the captain concerning a wide range of policy and procedure issues for a more efficient operation
- Responds to client and customer complaints regarding subordinates or complaints of general service on goals/objectives; investigates all complaints against officers and services offered by the department; investigates internal affairs complaints as needed
- Maintains liaison between administration and operations in all cases of infractions by members of the department, prepares a written report with full supporting details of incidents with recommendations to the captain
- Effectively supervises and recommends the hiring, discharge, assignment, evaluation, discipline, and adjustment of grievances of subordinate department employees
- Responds to serious or complex incidents; monitors action of the staff; authorizes request for specialized units to be called to a scene; assists in investigations, interviews, and interrogations
- Reports immediately to the captain incidents of serious importance or concern
- Provides for the correct and timely completion of all administrative matters concerning members under command; completes written reports concerning daily activities, staff requests, and various projects
- Ensures that the department properly coordinates its activities with other units and agencies
- Prepares written reports, forms, and other paperwork as required; submits a report of all unusual/serious incidents
- Assist with preparation of the department budget in both the planning and implementation stages; monitors project implementation for budget control; identifies need for manpower and other resources
- A Guard III in Deployed Services Security (DSS) must have exceptional organizational and leadership skills to effectively guide security officers, including non-commissioned officers are important so a new lieutenant can draft reports and official letters throughout the command and request the appropriate assistance when necessary

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma (or equivalent) preferred
- Must be able stand, sit, or walk for an extended time; move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces as well as up and down stairs and/or service ramps and lift up to 55lbs
- Must be able to read, speak and write English
- Must be able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
- Must possess and maintain a State Licensed Unarmed Security Guard Card / License Non-Commissioned
- Must compete in an internal supervisor program and have a full BI clearance. At least 1 year of security experience, to include some supervisor knowledge and experience preferred but not required)
- Must be able to provide a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated if prior military (No dishonorable discharges)
- Must have resided in the continental U.S. the last 3 consecutive years (full time)
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS)
- Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and a background check after accepting a conditional offer of employment
