Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology
- Licensed (or licensed eligible) to practice clinical psychology in Virginia
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in applying psychological assessment and intervention methods to individuals with serious mental disorders, forensic evaluations, and forensic policy and procedures
- Completion of the forensic evaluation training program for Virginia
- Extensive post-licensure (in Virginia or another state) experience providing interventions to justice-involved individuals with severe mental illness
- Expert knowledge of serious mental disorders, psychological assessment, and therapeutic interventions
- Ability to assess, formulate, and provide interventions for individuals with acute and serious mental disorders, including especially complex cases
- Ability to conduct individual and group psychotherapy
- Ability to administer and interpret common psychological assessment measures. Consultation skills for the assessment, management, and treatment of individuals with serious mental disorders, including especially complex cases
- Interpersonal, oral, and writing skills to communication effectively with individuals with serious mental disorders, family members, and other individuals of varying backgrounds and roles
- Expert knowledge about forensic issues such as competency to stand trial, mental state at the time of the offense, management of NGRI acquittees, and policies and procedures relevant to forensic patients
- Supervision skills such as procedures for assessing performance and providing feedback, understanding personnel policies, seeking consultation as needed, etc.
