Southeastern Virginia Training Center (SEVTC) is seeking a Food Service Tech I - CBORD to join our team and support our food service operations and nutritional compliance. This position is responsible for managing the CBORD software system, maintaining dietary records, assisting with food service logistics, and ensuring compliance with nutrition standards for individuals in our care.

About the Role

CBORD System Management:

  • Maintain and update the CBORD database, including meal lists, menus, recipes, food tickets, and compliance reports.
  • Ensure dietary compliance by managing resident diet orders, allergies, dislikes, supplements, and clinical notes.
  • Oversee the meal production cycle, ensuring proper food selection based on dietary needs.
  • Perform daily system updates, including new admissions, tray ticket modifications, menu production, and census reports.
  • Maintain security settings and conduct end-of-day system maintenance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CBORD technical support.

Food Service Operations & Support:

  • Assist food service staff with tallies, meal tickets, and labels to ensure proper meal distribution.
  • Train new employees on understanding tallies, tray tickets, and compliance procedures.
  • Support food service operations by answering telephones, assisting supervisors, and responding to inquiries.
  • Work with the Food Director and inventory technician to manage food inventory and vendor item maintenance.
  • Ensure overall nutritional compliance by coordinating with management for recipe production and food service quality control.

Must be able to work rotating shifts scheduled between 5am-1:30pm; 6am-2:30pm and 10:30am-7:00pm including weekends and holidays

This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency or facility need. All SEVTC positions are required to work different shifts and/or overtime as requested.

All new hires must successfully complete the facility’s Pre-service training program. Preservice training class is 5 days long 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.


Skills and experience required:

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about helping others and making a positive impact in their lives We also seek the following:

  • Experience in food service operations, nutrition compliance, and meal production.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Skill in computers including data entry, reporting, and use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with CBORD or similar food service management software preferred.
  • SERV safe certified
  • Certified by Commonwealth of Virginia for food sanitation or able to obtain with 2 months.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Associates degree preferred.
