Job Duties
(for employees who supervise others) Examples of Measures for Performance Management:
- Expectations are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department or unit;
- Staff receive frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate;
- Staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals;
- The requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation;
- Performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur.
- Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absences.
B. Physician Order Entry:
Computer entry, fill physician orders for pharmacist check, delivery to units, restock DocuMed, generate Physician Orders and MARs, other related duties as assigned.
- Orders are entered with < 10 errors/week.
- Orders are filled with < 10 errors/week.
- Unit deliveries made as scheduled.
- DocuMed restocked with zero errors.
- Documents (Physician Orders, MARs, etc.) generated as scheduled.
C. Fill medication carts for/with pharmacist check.
- Medication carts are filled with less than 10 errors/week. Essential
Back-up of other Technicians, Unit Dosing, shredding, updating references, inventory maintenance, and other related duties as assigned.
- Observation by pharmacists that duties have been performed.
E. Perform inspections of all medication storage areas using designated inspection record.
- Medication area inspections are performed monthly as evidenced by signed inspection record.
F-1. Fill patient pass/discharge order prescriptions within designated timeframe.
- Patient discharge prescriptions are filled within the designated time frame with less than 5 errors (labeling and filling)/month.
F-2. Fill controlled substances floor stock orders and maintain perpetual inventory.
- Controlled Substances floor stock orders are filled and the perpetual inventory is maintained with zero errors.
Minimum Qualifications
Keyboarding skills; Interpersonal skills; Basic knowledge of pharmacy law, rules and regulations; Accuracy in reading physician orders and entering orders into the computer
Additional Considerations
Previous experience in a psychiatric hospital setting.
