Southeastern Virginia Training Center is seeking a part-time Security Officer to join our team. This position serves as the first point of contact for staff, individuals, and visitors at our 24-hour facility.

  • Provide a high level of customer service, answering general inquiries and directing visitors.
  • Operate a multi-line phone system professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintain security by enforcing access control, issuing visitor badges, and monitoring logbooks.
  • Monitor video surveillance systems and report any unusual activity.
  • Act as a first responder in emergency situations and coordinate with police or fire departments when necessary.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all staff, visitors, and individuals.

This position is hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year.

The position serves as Security Officer for a 24-hour facility. Shift rotations are (7a-3p; 3p-11p; 11p-7am)

Skills and experience required:

  • Ability to operate a two-way radio and general announcing system.
  • Experience with general office procedures and equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, bookkeeping experience, and data entry proficiency.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.

Bonus points if you have:

  • General knowledge of security procedures.
  • Recent experience in security and administrative support within an intermediate care facility preferred.
