Job Duties:
Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB) is a dynamic, ever evolving $50 million social enterprise that offers challenging careers including production, services, retail, sales, customer service, fiscal, procurement, technology, and quality control. The Virginia Industries for the Blind is an enterprise division within DBVI. VIB is an accredited affiliate of the National Industries for the Blind, and a manufacturer and distributor of products and services provided under the provisions of the Javits-Wagner-O’Day Act and the Ability One Program.
We are seeking a VIB Production Associate I to provide timely, accurate fulfillment of goods per customer requirements.
Responsibility may include, but not limited to assembling, counting, folding, sorting, stuffing, packing goods and materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge/Experience:
- Manufacturing and production experience.
- Experience with sorting, separating, fulfilling, assembly, and packing
- Experience counting and packing customer orders.
Skills/Abilities:
- Professional attitude.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Willingness to accept and embrace change.
- Good at multi-tasking with little supervision.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Basic math.
- Meet fast paced production goals as assigned.
- Time management to include but not limited to work and attendance
Additional Considerations:
- Other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
- Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.

Employees in non-classified positions within the Virginia Industries for the Blind are offered a competitive benefits package that includes an annuity-based retirement plan, leave, and holiday pay that is paid by VIB, as well as jointly paid benefits such as health and life insurance. This role is defined as “direct labor”. Federal law requires VIB to fill at least 75% of its direct labor roles with qualified candidates who are blind.
