NYC Fleet manages all NYC vehicles, equipment, fuel, leasing, and related services. The City's fleet includes over 30,000 vehicles, costs over $850 million annually, and involves nearly 2,000 full time staff. NYC Fleet uses off the shelf Citywide fleet management systems to track all aspects of these operations including acquisitions, salvage, maintenance, inspections, fuel, collisions, and training.
Fleet is currently looking for an Executive Director of Fleet Sustainability to oversee Fleet's role in Citywide emergency management and sustainability.
The responsibilities of this position includes, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate Fleet's role in citywide emergencies including towing and transport, debris management, and emergency fueling operations and generator operations.
- Assist with research, development and operations for emergency contracts and coordinate with DCAS Procurement.
- Develop fleet staffing plans to cover fleet responsibilities during emergencies.
- Represent Fleet at NYCEM and support emergency training for fleet staff.
- Assist with the DOE electric school bus initiative.
- Oversee the implementation of the renewable diesel demonstration project and work with DCAS Procurement on developing a long-term contract for renewable diesel.
- Expand the EV charging infrastructure throughout the 5 boroughs including solar carports, level 3 EVSE, and curbside charging.
- Manage citywide vehicle auction program including overseeing weekly auctions, recommending items for sale to CFMO, and ensuring pickup lists are sent to vendor of items to auction.
- Support other and related Fleet initiatives as needed.
- Manage grant funding for sustainability-related projects at the state and federal level.
- Research emerging technologies in sustainable mobility.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time experience of a nature to qualify for the duties of the position, at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising personnel performing activities related to the duties of the position; or
2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience described in "1" above.
