Job Duties
Under the direction and guidance of the Investigative Support Supervisor, this position is responsible for collection and analysis of investigative data and information to support Unit investigations. Position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of files, records, systems and electronic data. Additionally, the position provides support to the unit by gathering targeted information, conducting research, and querying statistical data to create reports and presentations that deliver analysis and insights to stakeholders. Additional responsibilities may include equipment, vehicle and inventory support and other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Unit Chief.
This position is classified as Sensitive under Code of Virginia § 2.2-1201.1. Successful candidates will be required to consent to an additional background investigation based on their investigative responsibilities and/or access to internal and external agency databases and systems containing highly restricted, protected information.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
Proficiency in data analysis, reporting and research techniques, Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. VCIN/NCIC certification or ability to obtain within 6 months. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
Additional Considerations
Experience working in a law enforcement or investigative support role. Virginia Notary Public or ability to obtain upon employment. Experience in the investigative process and analytical applications used with automated information systems.
