Job Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Radiological Emergency Response Plan Development: Develop, update, and maintain the state’s Radiological Emergency Response Plan to ensure it meets federal, state, and local guidelines and standards.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, local agencies, and external partners such as North Carolina Emergency Management, Maryland Department of Emergency Management, North Anna Power Station, Surry Power Station, and Norfolk Naval Shipyard to ensure alignment and compliance of the Radiological Emergency Response Plan.
- Plan Review and Revision: Assist in the review, revision, and updating of local Radiological Emergency Response Plans.
- Radiological Plan Advisor for EOC Operations: Serve as the radiological plan advisor during Emergency Operations Center (EOC) drills and exercises.
- Public Protection and Information: Lead needs assessments, design public protection strategies, implement communication systems, and evaluate the effectiveness of public information dissemination during radiological emergency events.
All VDEM employees are designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather and natural or man-made disasters/events. This may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the Employee Work Profile.
Minimum Qualifications
- Skilled in writing, updating, and validating both strategic and operational plans
- Working knowledge of federal radiological regulations and guidelines
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Experience working with local, state, or state government programs
- Expertise in facilitating and coordinating resource and equipment needs.
- Strong background in project management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Progressive experience in developing planning programs, plans, or government or private business.
- Must possess a satisfactory driving record and a valid driver's license.

The salary for this position is negotiable up to the maximum hiring range listed in this posting. Offers will not be made outside of the hiring range.
