Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality's Tidewater Regional Office is seeking a qualified candidate to protect the public health and the environment through intelligent and consistent application of federal and state laws, regulations, policies and current waste management technology by conducting thorough and technically sound review and evaluation of solid waste groundwater monitoring plans, corrective action plans, permit amendment applications, variances, and environmental monitoring data. The position applies pollution prevention technology where possible.

Minimum Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of geology, hydrogeology, mathematics, modeling and statistical applications, water chemistry, groundwater remedial technologies, and Federal and State Solid Waste Management Regulations. Ability to independently read and interpret engineering/geologic plans and specifications. Problem solving and decision-making abilities and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, prepare and present technical reports to diverse groups, make independent and sound decisions, work without close supervision, and to resolve problems independently and as part of a team.
