Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Mortuary Operations, will perform administrative duties including but not limited to:
- Reports to and assumes the duties of the Deputy Director of Mortuary Operations during their absence
- Assists in supervising all staff that report to the Deputy Director of Mortuary Operations
- Manages the Forensic Mortuary Technician – Levels 2 and 3 and ensures that all Citywide Mortuary operations are being conducted in the most effective and professional manner
- Ensures that all Forensic Mortuary Technicians – Levels 2 and 3 complete their tasks, conduct regular performance evaluations of the Forensic Mortuary Technicians – Levels 2 and 3, and provide them with feedback/take corrective measures when necessary
- Meet regularly with OCME Leadership, Unit Heads, staff, and outside partners to ensure our operational units provide most effective service possible
- Complete administrative functions as needed including handling personnel matters, attending meetings, analyzing data and compiling reports, and monitoring overall unit operations citywide
- Assists in all personnel matters including new staff orientation, staff evaluations, overtime tracking, time and leave matters, protocol violation tracking and Unit staff scheduling and assignments
- Performs administrative tasks which include coordinating proficiency training/refresher classes, drafting, revising and tracking protocol changes and updating the Unit Manuals
- Performs user testing of CMS and attend CMS meetings as requested
- Performs borough site visits, field operations spot checks, or other field functions as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
FORENSIC MORTUARY TECHNICIAN-C - 5204A
Minimum Qualifications
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in mortuary and/or autopsy work.
For Assignment to Level II
In addition to meeting the "Qualification Requirements" described above, to be assigned
to Assignment Level II candidates must have one additional year of the experience described above, for a total of two years of experience.
For Assignment-to-Assignment Level III
In addition to meeting the "Qualification Requirements" described above, to be assigned to Assignment Level III candidates must have three additional years of experience as described above, for a total of four years of experience; two years of experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred Skills
Conflict resolution skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Highly organized Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
