Job Duties
Responsibilities include independently reviewing, analyzing, and drafting correspondence and assignments received by the Commissioner’s Office; researching data from agency programs and providing detailed analysis; completing special projects, as necessary, acting as a liaison between the Commissioner’s Office, agency management and staff, officials from federal, state, and local government agencies to facilitate effective communications and conflict resolution; coordinating responses to communications from the Office of the Secretary of Labor, Governor’s Office and Cabinet; managing staff assignment and project tracking systems to manage the follow-up related to actions and ensure due dates are met. This position will also provide knowledge to develop office standards; conduct research on various topics, provide summaries of research results, and prepare technical data reports and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications
- Strong effective written communication skills, rules of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation; detailed-oriented; effective oral skills, to include telephone etiquette.
- Possess working knowledge of office management and administrative techniques; analyzing workflow, to include needs assessment and prioritization.
- Ability to work as an active team member as well as independently.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to create and maintain filing system; manage records, to include record retention and destruction.
- Ability to develop and analyze databases, charts and reports from existing data received from the field.
- Proficient in time management and able to collect and organize materials for reports requested.
Additional Considerations
- Post-secondary education and/or other professional training/certification is preferred in areas related to administrative sciences or field related to the work.
- Experience applying administrative and office procedures and practices to include records management procedures.
- Experience analyzing data and reaching logical conclusions, developing narrative and statistical reports, developing presentations, and assessing information.
- Experience organizing office functions, prioritizing work assignments, interpreting policies and guidelines, analyzing workflow, and managing projects.
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include Microsoft Office products and Internet navigation.
- Have some knowledge of occupational safety and health; and federal and state regulations related to occupational safety and health.
- Substantial prior experience providing executive support to senior level administrators.
Special Requirements:
- Must be eligible to possess a valid driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one.
- Ability to occasionally travel overnight.
- Ability to perform moderate physical activity that includes, but is not limited to climbing stairs and ladders, bending, walking up and down inclines, occasionally lifting and carrying loads up to 30 pounds, etc.
- The selected candidate must pass a criminal background investigation, and successfully serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment if beginning employment as an original hire or re-employment.
Special Instructions:
The starting salary range is $42,000 - $52,528 annually plus the State’s benefits package. Please note that salary is only negotiable within the advertised salary range.
