Job Description:
A Human Services Assistant (HSA) III will serve in a unique position on the Family Services Unit working directly with the Children’s Services Act (CSA) Coordinator as well as the Family Services Manager. The selected candidate will report directly to CSA Coordinator and Family Services Manager completing assigned clerical tasks and duties that will aide in the daily operations of the Unit.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Gather and prepare necessary paperwork for the monthly Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT).
- Schedule community providers and case managers for upcoming FAPT meetings.
- Participate in monthly FAPT meetings documenting meeting content
- Maintain electronic tracking forms to ensure required paperwork is completed timely by case managers.
- Maintain an electronic resource folder accessible to community partners.
- Develop and maintain routine communications with case managers, providers, and vendors regarding CSA matters
- Schedule vendor presentation
- Assist with copying, filing, faxing, scanning, and emailing for the CSA Coordinator as well as the Family Services Manager and Family Services staff.
- Research returned mail and remail to the corrected address.
- Complete necessary communication for screened out referrals made regarding children and adults.
- Other duties as assigned that will aid in the daily operations of the Services Unit.
When activated by the County Administrator, must be willing to work in the community emergency shelter.
Hiring Range: $40,538 (May be higher depending on qualifications and budgetary considerations)
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Considerable knowledge of administrative, clerical and other office procedures to include scanning, faxing, copying and filing.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully, independently, as well as a team member.
- Manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
- Proficient in operating a personal computer to include Microsoft Office tools.
- Maintain professional ethics related to confidentiality.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
- Demonstrated ability to provide customer service and coordinate with multiple organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post secondary coursework in subjects such as social work, human services, or one of the social or behavioral sciences, business or related field, and relevant work experience in public administrative support work OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of the Virginia Department of Social Services CSA and Services Units.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain files and records
- Establish and maintain working relationships with professionals, co-workers and the public sufficient to exchange ideas and coordinate activities
