    • Department Commissioner's Office Salary Range : $60,889.00 – $94,521.00 Job Description The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish.

      The Commissioner’s Office of Mental Health Support focuses on five key areas :

    • Elevating current DYCD mental health practices by creating continuity and coordination of mental health services across DYCD’s programs.
    • Researching, developing and disseminating mental health resources to staff and leadership.
    • Ensuring that DYCD funded programs institute a care management service model that addresses participants' mental health needs in a comprehensive plan that aligns with DYCD expectations.
    • Engaging stakeholders in the development and delivery of mental health services across DYCD funded programs.
    • Identifying internal agency needs for mental health supports.
    • Defining DYCD’s role in mental health services across the agency and across programs in NYC.
    • DYCD is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Director of Research & Resource to support this work. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the mental health sector and City Government with the ability to identify areas of potential partnership and support between the two.

      Under the supervision of the Senior Policy Advisor, with latitude for independent judgement, the Director of Research & Resource will be responsible for leading and implementing mental health research initiatives, collaborating with internal and external partners to drive data-driven solutions, conducting literature reviews, managing data collection and analyzing research outcomes to guide decision-making, collaborating across agency departments to integrate research findings ensuring improvement in programs and services, supervising support staff and leading meetings with the team to disseminate research findings; assisting in the preparation of grant proposals and other reports as needed, drafting correspondence, managing communications and assisting with presentations and documentation for executive meetings and other events.

      The ideal candidate will also have experience managing high pressure environments, leading and working independently, the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and events, comfort with engaging with executive leadership and excellent organizational skills.

      Minimum Qualifications

      1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

      2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

      3. Education and / or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

      Preferred Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in mental health programs.
    • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with New York City government operations.
    • Administrative Skills.
    • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Computer literate with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suites.
    • Residency Requirement

      New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
