Express Department Manager

Job Summary

The Express Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and performance of the Express Department at Derby Dental Laboratory. This role involves managing daily workflows, ensuring on-time production and delivery, maintaining quality standards, and leading a team to achieve departmental goals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to the company's core values.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership:

• Manage and mentor a team of technicians, data entry clerks, and shipping staff.
• Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment.
• Conduct regular team meetings and provide performance feedback.

Operational Oversight:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Express Department, ensuring efficient workflows.
• Monitor production schedules to meet tight deadlines and client expectations.
• Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Quality Assurance:

• Ensure all products meet Derby Dental Laboratory’s quality standards.
• Work closely with the quality control team to address and resolve any issues.

Process Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and implement process improvements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and innovations to enhance department performance.

Communication:

• Serve as the primary liaison between the Express Department and other departments.
• Communicate goals, updates, and challenges effectively to team members and leadership.

Reporting:

• Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department.
• Provide regular reports to upper management on productivity, quality, and team performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in team management or a leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing or dental laboratory setting.
• Strong understanding of workflow management and process optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Proficiency in onboarding new software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the dental industry, particularly in a fast-paced production environment.
• Familiarity with Express Line or quick-turnaround manufacturing processes.
