What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gift Shop Manager's Assistant position at Derby Dinner Playhouse?
We are looking for a personable, team-oriented individual with retail experience and customer service skills. Experience receiving and labeling merchandise is desired but not required. Comfortable knowledge of Microsoft software and basic computer functions is also required.
The Derby Dinner Playhouse Gift Shop is seeking an assistant to the Gift Shop Manager/Buyer for 20-30 hours per week, more hours possible during peak season (October-December). Flexible hours Monday through Friday between 10 am and 10 pm with select Saturdays 7:30 am-4 pm for Children’s Theatre performances. Two days off per week.
Potential candidates must be comfortable standing for long periods, and lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs. Potential candidates need to be comfortable sitting for extended periods, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and reading small print.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with data entry of new merchandise
- Assisting with unpacking and labeling new merchandise
- Assisting with organizing and storing new merchandise
- Assisting buyer with selecting new merchandise
- Assisting with design and changing over shop for each production
- Assisting Manager with scheduling and supervision of shop employees
Working in the shop as a cashier when needed
