Who We Are Looking For:
The Outdoor Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining recreational facilities for the DRC program schedule. Part time DRC positions may, or may become, covered by the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) based on anticipated scheduling. Covered employees have all rights and responsibilities of KPERS employees including payroll deductions for retirement benefits. Employees in good standing with 2 years of service and KPERS eligibility are eligible for Vacation, Sick Leave and Holiday pay at specified part time rates.
What Winning Looks Like As An Outdoor Maintenance Worker:
- Upkeep and daily maintenance of athletic and recreational facilities assigned by the Facilities Services Coordinator.
- Keep an accurate account of clock-in/out times on time clock or a time sheet when necessary.
- Work all dates and times assigned by the Facilities Services Coordinator.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining athletic fields for games and tournaments.
- Work with city and school staff to assure quality outdoor facilities.
- Keep recreation center grounds and athletic complexes clean and maintained.
- Assist in mowing, trimming and landscaping of recreation centers.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, tools and work areas.
- Responsible for attending all in-service meetings.
- Other tasks assigned by supervisor. Outdoor Maintenance includes a broad scope of duties. Applicants should be prepared to perform a variety of tasks.
Skills Needed to Win As An Outdoor Maintenance Worker:
Previous field maintenance experience desirable. Knowledge of landscaping/work equipment and tools helpful.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Functions may be performed in an environment that may cause exposure to sun and heat. Need to have the ability to see and hear, sit stand, stoop, climb a ladder, bend and walk about. Must posses an audible voice for communication and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
Mature individual at least 16 years of age. Must be dependable and able to pass a criminal background check.
All applicants should note that although work will generally occur on a regular schedule, there will be times, because of weather and special events that work schedules will fluctuate. This will mean work after 5:00pm on some days as well as work on the weekends. Hired applicants should be willing to work at these times when called to do so.
