About the Role - We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our accounting department and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations, implementing accounting policies, and maintaining compliance with regulations. This role can be based out of any of our Florida locations or New York location.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain policies and procedures based on GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) between the Accounting, Finance departments, and Operations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Develop and manage relationships with financial institutions regarding credit facilities, borrowings, lines of credit, and investments.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with loan agreements and covenants with banks.
- Review contracts to ensure compliance with GAAP and legal standards. Provide findings and recommendations to Operations.
- Address tax issues with the IRS or state entities, resolving issues and recommending strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for each entity within the organization.
- Consolidate quarterly financial statements and conduct detailed analysis of accounts for review by external auditors.
- Prepare and analyze accounts for annual consolidated financial statements, coordinating audits for all entities.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and effective collection of billings for AR.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and timely payments of invoices for AP.
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to verify financial transactions and balances.
- Prepare and maintain cash flow projections to monitor and ensure the corporation's financial solvency.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to support daily operations and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification is preferred.
- Proven experience (10 years) as a Controller, Accounting Supervisor, or similar role in a corporate environment.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial principles, practices, and regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external auditors.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
