Arizona based commercial/industrial general contractor, DEREK BUILDERS, is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Project Superintendent.


The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working on a variety of construction projects as a Superintendent for a General Contractor, be a detail oriented multi-tasker, motivated to help lead a team and ensure that the field operations are managed in a manner which exceeds the client’s expectations and builds upon our team’s strong, extensive, established, career history and reputation.


Overall Competencies:

  • Provide jobsite leadership & direction on all assigned projects.
  • Lead field operations of trade partners for effectiveness & efficiency.
  • Proactive problem solver with excellent dispute resolution skills.
  • Plan & set up an efficient jobsite layout.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly jobsite.
  • Implement & lead interim scheduling meeting.
  • Address job obstacles that are discussed in scheduling meetings.
  • Arrange for & schedule inspections by government officials and consultants.
  • Review & evaluate all subcontractor agreements and vendor purchase orders.
  • Maintain daily logs to document all jobsite activities & events.
  • Implement & maintain quality control & life safety checkout procedures.
  • Ensure project is progressing in accordance with overall schedule and contract time requirements.
  • Lead in accordance with Derek Builders Safety Program, policies and procedures as well as all applicable state and federal laws.


Field Operations:

  • Provide site supervision and direction to extended construction and subcontractor team.
  • Identify, track and manage subcontractor’s scopes.
  • Allocate manpower and resources as required to meet schedule and Owner/Client expectations.
  • Generate Daily Reports outlining all activities.
  • Work with Project Manager to execute project goals.
  • Interface with Building Officials for all permitting activities and sign-off.
  • Monitor and log third party testing, project access and logistics plans.


Scheduling:

  • Work with Project Manager to develop, maintain and update project schedule.
  • Identify potential project impacts and proposed solutions.
  • Prepare 3-wk Rolling Schedules.


Meetings:

  • Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings with project team.
  • Attend weekly Owner, Architect and Contractor meetings.
  • Review and understand RFI, Submittal and Change Order Processes.


Safety:

  • Conduct daily project walks.
  • Conduct site specific safety briefs and toolbox talks.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient working environment for subcontractors and extended construction team.
  • Monitor and prepare safety reports for individual client requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working for a General Contractor as a Superintendent with a demonstrated ability to lead and supervise large scale field teams. (Base Salary DOE).
  • Proficient computer skills are a must.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects
  • Experience with construction management software (Sage and GC Pay) is a plus.
  • Must have a vehicle capable of carrying supplies and a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to write routine reports & correspondence.
  • Have a proven successful project history of maintaining quality, schedule, safety, and actual cost versus estimated cost.
  • Understand complex construction drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to read, analyze & interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions & procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively and interact with all level employees, Derek Builders management team as well as outside partners such as Owners/Clients, Architects, Engineers, Subcontractors, and Vendors.

Salary : $80,000 - $110,000
