Title: Lathe Operator
Job Summary: A Lathe Operator is responsible for making and repairing production tooling.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Be knowledgeable with all Marshall procedures and work instructions pertaining to any personal job responsibilities to achieve and maintain maximum quality performance.
- Safely and accurately operate manual lathe using compound and tailstock to perform the duties and requirement of the job and position accurately and successfully.
- Safely and accurately operate surface and pedestal grinders and belt sanders; change and dress wheels and belts.
- Safely and accurately operate drill presses, tool-bit sharpener, Rockwell tester, hydraulic presses, band saw, honing equipment, electric buffer and hardening & annealing furnaces.
- Properly form and shape tool bits for different types of cutting.
- Follow basic cleaning and maintenance routines of all equipment in the tool room.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Know basic operation of Lathes.
- Be able to use hand tools utilized in Tool Room.
- Be able to accurately measure tooling to required dimensions using micrometers, calipers, height gages, dial indicators and scales as needed.
- Excellent organizational skills, with high attention to detail.
- Be able to effectively communicate with all co-workers, including usage of proper terminologies.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Mechanical skills / aptitude preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
