Title: Production Control Manager
Job Summary
Reporting to the Plant Manager the Production Control Manager will be accountable to deliver inventory levels that support manufacturing volumes. In this role you will be responsible for directing, developing, and managing the production planning and scheduling, inventory management, materials planning, and Control Station activities. Additionally, Production Control Manager will work closely with Inventory Accounting Manager to maintain process controls and procedures in place associated with managing company inventory. This position will supervise 4-6 team members.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and available resources.
- Continuously monitor raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory to ensure that stock levels are adequate to meet production demands without overstocking or shortages.
- Ensure on-time production delivery by managing production timelines and adjusting schedules as needed.
- Implement best practices for inventory control to reduce waste, prevent stockouts, and avoid excess inventory.
- Analyze inventory turnover rates to ensure that materials are being used efficiently and within optimal timeframes.
- Oversee the coordination of materials, supplies, and parts to ensure availability for production runs.
- Work with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely ordering of raw materials.
- Ensure that production schedules are balanced with workforce capabilities and machine availability.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on production status, delays, and any other concerns.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Lead and mentor a team of production planners and control staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Calculate, maintain, and present relevant team metrics in accordance with assigned balanced score card. Help to flow relevant data to appropriate scorecard holders.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives with direct reports and cultivate a culture of operational excellence with team members.
- Document standard processes and practices for DNI production control and work to maintain standard work within the department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (preferred).
- 5 year’s related experience (planning, manufacturing, supply chain, inventory management).
- 3 year’s supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Analytical, problem solving, project management, facilitation, and decision-making skills are essential.
- Strong leadership skills, ability to motivate others, resolve conflict, encourage teamwork,and manage employee performance.
- Excellent verbal, written, listening, and presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of materials in manufacturing environments including various levels of planning from sales & operations planning.
- Experience of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Kanban, purchasing, , scheduling.
- Self-starter, able to work with or lead cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to work under minimal direct supervision and be willing to take initiative to resolve problems and to help revise and upgrade processes.
- Must possess a high degree of professionalism, adaptability and strong customer service skills including a high level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
