Export Compliance Supervisor

This is a remote position but candidates may be asked to come into the office on occasion.

This role entails overseeing the exportation of products, equipment, and materials from the country in line with company policies and procedures while adhering to applicable local, national, and international laws. The individual will be tasked with developing workflows to guarantee that all export shipments are carried out promptly and that duties are paid on time. This position will ensure that operations align with service commitments, revenue targets, and profitability goals set by company policies and budgetary standards. Additionally, it is crucial to comply with all customs regulations. The person in this role will have operational oversight of the ocean and air export functions, ensuring that client satisfaction is effectively achieved.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Provides guidance to indirect air carrier (IAC) operational colleagues and will support compliance manager with maintenance of the IAC Standard Security Program (IACSSP)
  • Provides guidance on international ocean shipping and tariff requirements to ocean export operational colleagues
  • Assists colleagues and customers with regulatory guidance on export laws and regulations. These regulations include but are not limited to :

Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

  • Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR)
  • Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
  • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • US Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
  • Promptly and accurately resolves customer shipment problems including delays, damages, or export clearance issues
  • Provides advice to customers regarding overseas shipping, and certain commodities' requirements including licensed commodities
  • Oversees and trains team members while delegating tasks to others
  • Takes charge of office operations in the manager's absence
  • Keeps informed about updates to U.S. export laws and regulations, along with Deringer policies and procedures
  • Provides prompt and effective assistance to branch staff
  • Works with Customs and other government agencies to resolves problems
  • Reviews shipping documents and routing details with a view towards appropriate export regulations (such as export licenses, customs declarations, commercial invoices, dangerous goods declarations and letters of credit)
  • May perform other tasks as assigned including : facilitating insurance claims, filing reports, and reviewing export shipments
  • Manages / liaises with warehousing and distribution activities affected by export regulations and changes
  • Coordinates with sales personnel on compliance with export laws and regulations to ensure customer expectations are achieved and maintained
  • Reviews and analyzes reports on financial and export data elements for accuracy and compliance
  • Create SOPs and Training Materials for Export Operations teams and provide regional support to cross-training and development initiatives within the region, region to assure continuity and operations
  • Provide coverage when staffing needs arise
  • Provides written and oral instructions to direct reports and reviews work for accuracy and conformance to the Company's policies and procedures
  • Must be able to make regulatory decisions in the absence of the Export Compliance Manager
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management
  • Required Qualifications :

  • High school Diploma / GED
  • 3 year(s) of supervisory experience
  • Previous IAC (Indirect Air Carrier) training
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certified Export Specialist certification
