Overview:
As a leader in developing innovative wind solutions, we're continually investing in new wind energy projects. Since launching its first wind power project in 2008, we have invested more than $7.3 billion to grow our commercial wind and solar power businesses. Today, we own or operate 23 wind energy assets, generating over 3,000 megawatts of energy across the country. Our Renewables Technologists (Blade Repair Technicians) are a vital part of our organization, and we take pride in hiring and training the best in the industry. We are looking for procedure-driven, Blade Technicians to travel the country repairing electrical generating equipment and other composite items on our turbines. This is a full-time, permanent position with significant room for advancement. Renewables Technologists work within the specialty field of Composite Blade Maintenance to support Deriva Energy Renewables Operations.
Responsibilities:
Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, resolution of problems and repair completion of electrical generating equipment
Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
Strives to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills and performance
Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills to effectively coordinate work activities
Maintains accurate records and files
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally
Basic Qualifications:
High School/GED
Associates degree
In addition to required degree, one (1) year minimum related work experience
In lieu of Associates degree and one (1) year minimum related work experience listed above, three (3) years minimum of related work experience
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working on composite wind turbine blades
Completion of OEM or third-party composite/blade repair training program
Ability to obtain an ACMA CCT Wind Blade Repair certification within the first 6 months of being hired
Experience working from suspended up to 300FT platforms, lifts or rope access
Formal NDT training for composite materials
Ability to effectively apply basic principles of project management
FAA Part 107 SUAS rating (Commercial drone pilot)
Experience with multiple wind turbine platforms
Ability to work effectively within a team dynamic to get the job done within the allotted project timeline
Working Conditions:
Valid Driver's License required
Any travel to projects
Operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and commercial motor vehicles
The ability to climb turbine towers (up to 400ft) daily is a requirement of this position
Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards
Ability to lift 75lbs individually
Walking, Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds
Working in all-weather outdoor conditions (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow)
Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals or solvents
Work at heights greater than 300 feet daily
Ability to pass a background check and pass a drug test.
Able to pass a pre-employment physical.
Completion of OEM or third-party technical specialty training program.
Safe Working Weight Requirement: This position contains a weight restriction of 265 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading.
Field Mobility Classification - Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
