Position Summary :
Reporting directly to the Director -Tax, this position will be responsible for supporting the US tax compliance, financial reporting and US tax planning requirements of the business.
The Manager, Tax role is based in Charlotte, N.C. This position can be filled at a higher level commensurate with the candidate's skill and experience mix.
Responsibilities :
Support Director-Tax, through all M&A transactions and tax equity financing.
Actively collaborate with Tax Counsel and Tax Advisors on all sale / buy transactions, financings and documentation thereof.
Manage corporate and deal modeling for tax inputs and proper tax allocations.
Advise internal teams on benefits and eligibility requirements according to the Inflation Reduction Act, 2022, (IRA) with special emphasis on start construction, credits and adders applicable to Wind, Solar and BESS technologies for prospective acquisitions, current financings and operating projects
Monitor current and proposed tax legislation related to renewable energy incentives and regulations and share relevant information with other teams.
Review federal and state partnerships income tax returns that are prepared by external service providers.
Support Deriva Energy's quarterly and annual tax provision process, specifically around proper capital account management and partner income allocations.
Support US tax compliance process, including managing schedules, relationships with investors and following up on compliance work with service providers.
Support Tax Fixed Asset maintenance, as needed.
Support various internal initiatives and special tax related projects.
Liaison with Brookfield Tax regularly to ensure Deriva Tax's policies are aligned with that of its Parent and highlight issues relevant to tax planning and structuring.
Required / Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's in Accounting or similar field
5 years of partnership tax experience with strong technical knowledge of tiered partnership structures, section 704(c), and section 754.
Desired Qualification :
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), JD or advanced degree
Prior experience in the Renewable Energy sector, specifically IRA related work experience
Exposure to M&A transactions, preferably in the renewable energy industry.
Strong technical knowledge of US Federal and State income tax laws
Experience in reviewing income tax returns.
Excellent analytical and research skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple, competing priorities.
Strong technology skills working with MS Office products (Excel) and ability to leverage technology skills to improve efficiency.
Experience with Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets or similar software, preferred.

Working Conditions :
This role is intended to be located at the Deriva Headquarters office in Charlotte, NC. The office position is hybrid.
