Overview :
Deriva Energy, a portfolio company of Brookfield Renewable U.S., who is a nationwide leader in sustainable energy provides wind, solar, resilient backup power, and managed energy services across the U.
S., with a total electric capacity of more than 6,000 megawatts of nonregulated renewable energy is seeking a Solar Technician I or II to be based in Desoto County, MS at Wildflower Solar Farm.
The Solar Tech is primarily responsible for providing support to multiple Deriva Solar projects on a continual / on-demand basis and to establish O&M support for new site(s) start-up as well as long term operation and maintenance.
It is important to note that each site is unique adding to the complexity of this position.
Responsibilities :
Maintenance of Solar Facilities :
- Diagnose and resolve faults on solar as they relate to mechanical or electrical issues
- Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Lock Out / Tag Out procedures
- Perform corrective tasks on solar equipment
- Work as scheduled during the week and on call as required by manager
- Always maintain a high level of safety awareness
- Work in an outdoor environment for an extended period of time
- Operate grounds keeping equipment including but not limited to weed eaters and lawn mowers
- EH&S documentation
- Complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool, and PPE inventory and additional paperwork as necessary.)
Additional Support for Sites :
Willing to travel and assist other Deriva Energy Sustainable Solution solar facilities when needed
Basic Qualifications :
Solar Technician - Level I :
High school / GED
Solar Technician - Level II :
- High school diploma / GED
- 2 years of related work experience
Desired Qualifications :
- Associates or Technical degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance
- Completion of a Solar training program
- 1 years of related work experience
- Additional years of wind turbine or solar experience
- Experience with multiple solar supplier technology
- High voltage and sub-station maintenance experience
- Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment
- Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance
Working Conditions :
- Position may be located at a specific solar facility or part of a mobile team
- Position will require fieldwork at a Solar facility as well as office work when necessary
- Work schedules can vary depending on business need and can include changes in normal shift assignments, overtime, callout, and holiday and weekend work
- Exposure to the natural elements (i.e. weather, heat / cold, noise, dust, humidity, and wildlife)
Specific Requirements :
- Valid driver's license
- Complete initial training in Deriva Renewable Academy (DRA)
