Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Sterilization Technician to join DAWM. The Sterilization Technician is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, sterilization, and proper maintenance of medical instruments and equipment. This role plays a vital part in infection control and patient safety by adhering to strict sterilization protocols and maintaining a clean clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Operate and maintain autoclaves and other sterilization equipment.
- Properly handle and dispose of biohazardous waste according to regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures and equipment maintenance logs.
- Assist clinical staff by preparing treatment trays and ensuring all necessary tools are sterilized and readily available.
- Follow all infection control protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards and office policies.
- Conduct routine checks of sterilization equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any issues to management.
- Support staff with additional duties as needed to ensure a safe and efficient clinical environment.
- Assist with inventory management and clinical supply stocking.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CSPDT) is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in medical instrument sterilization, preferably in a dermatology, surgical, or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures, sterilization techniques, and medical equipment handling.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to patient safety and maintaining a sterile medical environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Exposure to medical waste and cleaning chemicals, following proper protective procedures.
