Physical Requirements:
Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated ASCP-certified Histotechnician or Histotechnologist to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a small, fast-paced laboratory, where you will perform a variety of essential histotechnological tasks related to the preparation and analysis of dermatopathology specimens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a combination of histotechnological tasks, including grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining, immunohistochemistry, Mohs surgery techniques and, transcription.
- Adapt to varying histotechnological tasks and prioritize workflow efficiently throughout the day.
- Collaborate with multiple teams to support the diagnostic needs of our dermatology clinics.
- Ensure high standards of quality and accuracy in all laboratory procedures and histotechnological tasks.
- Maintain the diagnostic viability of all specimens.
- Ensure accurate patient labeling and routinely verify that surgical case numbers match corresponding blocks and slides.
- Prepare special stains and solutions as needed.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with CAP regulations, CLIA regulations and, quality control standards.
- Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
Qualifications:
- ASCP certification as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist is required.
- Previous experience in a histopathology or dermatopathology laboratory is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality results.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Flexibility to perform multiple tasks throughout the day.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently.
- All laboratory personnel are required to maintain schedule flexibility.
