Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Triage Medical Assistant is a full time position that manages communication between patients, family members, care providers, and other healthcare institutions within their specific location.
Status: Full Time, Non- Exempt
Essential Functions

- Utilizes EMR system to monitor, track, document and manage all communication.
- Report all non-urgent pathology results for specific location
- Monitor and track pathology orders, receipt of results and coordinates with labs to obtain outstanding results
- Answers patient calls, emails, and questions and/or refers to the right professional.
- Entering patient demographics and scheduling patients into practice management system
- Scan documents into patient charts and send documents out to referring professionals when needed.
- Assist with management of Prior Authorizations, prescription refills, returning patient calls, completing tasks in EHR.
- Assist clinical teams with tasks such as prepping rooms, re-stocking, rooming patients, scribing and acting as resource nurse among other duties, as needed.
- Discusses with patients and families regarding treatments, procedures, and continuing care.
- Provides community resources and referrals for continuing care
- Confidentially manages patient accounts.
- Ensures compliance with professional standards & regulatory requirements.
- Works as a team player to ensure each patient receives the best service possible.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- EMR experience preferred
- Dermatology experience preferred
- Experience with patient charting (i.e., scribing patient history, doctor’s diagnosis description and treatment plans,
including prescriptions and patient instructions into patient chart, in detail) - 2 plus years’ experience working in a medical office
- Focus on exceptional customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and well organized
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Knowledgeable of OSHA and HIPAA compliance
- Knowledge of medical/dermatology terminology and abbreviations preferred
Physical Requirements:
This position will spend most of day sitting, using the phone and a computer and it is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds on any given day. Must be willing and able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies as needed.
