What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mohs HistoTechnician position at Dermatology & Mohs Surgery Skin Cancer Center?
RESPONSIBILITIES - Histotech
- Produce high quality slides for Mohs surgeons.
- Mohs frozen section preparation - mapping, labeling, grossing, inking, embedding, sectioning, staining and cover slipping
- Permanent section preparation - grossing, labeling, processing, embedding in paraffin, sectioning, staining, cover slipping
- Proper organizing and storage of slides
- Routine maintenance and cleaning of histology equipment and materials
- Use automated equipment and instruments including microscopes, microtomes and other lab equipment.
- Examine slides under microscope to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements.
- Work independently and with team members as needed.
- Research and manage the use of safe chemicals and equipment throughout the Mohs lab.
- Research and train other staff members on biohazard and pharmaceutical waste
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Assist with surgical prep and exam room turnover
- Assist with pathology lab entries into pathology module
- Maintenance and documentation as required by CLIA
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Prior experience with Mohs horizontal frozen sections and/or working with biopsy specimens in dermatology is ideal but not required
WORK SCHEDULE
- Full Time Hours
- Typically M-F hours
- Springfield and Branson offices
- Must Travel Between all offices
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Starting From $16.00per hour or $19.00 based on Experience
