What your responsibilities will be as a Lab Technician:
- Accessioning specimens in a timely and accurate manner
- Preparing slides for transport with courier
- Filing and pulling slides as requested
- Performing gross dissection/examination for select uncomplicated or wholly submitted or bisected skin specimens
- Performing microtomy on various tissue types to include very small biopsies
- Accurate and timely preparation and staining of histology specimens under both routine and STAT (frozen section, Mohs surgery) conditions
- Ensuring safe and non-traumatic specimen handling process with critical concern for the quality of the specimen
- Controlling contaminated or potentially dangerous specimens in accordance with accreditation agency requirements
- Preparing slides with concern for the quality of the specimen given the procedures to be used for test or examination
- Ensuring equipment is operated according to manufacturer's instructions, maintained properly and supplies are adequate for the work to be performed
- Maintaining accurate records kept for quality control, quality assurance and patient data
Requirements
What we look for:
- Associate or Bachelors Degree in Biology (Preferred)
- Experience in tissue pathology (Required)
- Experienced Histotech (Preferred but not required)
- Computer literacy (Required) /the office is fully electronic with EMR and LIS systems
