Job Summary
The primary responsibilities for this position are to be the positive face of Dermatology San Antonio for patients during the check-in and check-out processes. In addition, this position obtains correct and accurate patient demographic information, including name, address, and insurance information. The Front Office Specialists will verify all patients’ insurance information prior to their visit and will calculate and collect patient responsibility amounts including previous balances, copays, deductibles, and any fees for services not covered by insurance.
Duties
· Print out and prepare all the information necessary for the next business day.
· Verify all patients’ insurance coverage is current prior to their arrival for appointments.
· Greet patients and assist them during the check-in and checkout process.
· Gather or update and enter correct demographic information and consent from patients upon their arrival and before any services are rendered.
· Scans documents before the end of each workday.
· Effectively communicate with other staff, either verbally or electronically, about any changes in the schedule or discrepancies of any type affecting the provider’s schedule.
· Correctly calculate any copays or balances at the time of patient check-in.
· Correctly calculate any deductible, co-insurance, or patient responsibility amount at checkout.
· Forward any financial documents obtained from the patient to the appropriate staff.
· Answer phones with appropriate and professional phone etiquette.
· Schedule patient appointments for all providers in an appropriate time slot for the service to be provided.
· Monitor and follow all practice promotions enabling correct responses to patient inquiries.
· Must follow protocols for Drug and Product Representatives entering each facility
· Observe the lobby area for patient activity and ensure it is clean and orderly.
· Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly manner.
· Faxes will be assigned daily for a staff member to complete.
· End of day: Reconcile all payments collected to be correct and balanced to all systems.
· Close lobby offices at end of the day.

· Customer Service is a MUST. Being polite, respectful, and courteous.
· Must be able to work at any of the DSA front office locations, traveling is a requirement if coverage is needed.
