Insurance Verification & Patient Collection/ Medical Records
Summary:
The purpose of the position is to verify insurance patient benefits for scheduled medical appointments. All benefits summaries must be scanned and properly documented in patient’s electronic records.
Benefits include:
- Calling patients to collect on past due balances Checking various insurance portals for status of claims and denials, and sending appeals. Obtain all necessary forms and documents for patient accounts Answers telephone calls and response to all inquiries (verbal and written) from all patients Displays Positive Service Recovery Skills Calling and collecting on self-pay past-due balances Work incoming medical record request
This position also, entails patient account receivables and medical record release.
Position Duties:
Verify insurance benefits for appointments, must be 5 days in advance on all verifications.
Must verify any add-ons as soon as possible.
If any discrepancies occur; must be able to communicate and update in patients electronic records.
Re-verify with the correct insurance information once information has been updated with patient.
Coordination of Benefits (COB) must be correctly verified and entered in electronic records.
If unable to contact patient to obtain correct information candidate must leave a message with direct phone line number so that patient could return call and not be transfer to multiple staff.
Document any discrepancies that are encounter while verifying benefits in a phone call note.
Must follow HIPPA guidelines at all times
Position Requirements:
2 years experience with using healthcare electronic medical records (EMR) and other quality measures are required.
2 years experience in insurance plans and knowledge of insurance benefits measures is a must.
2 years experience in insurance online benefits such as but not limited to (Navinet, Cigna, Oscar, Medicare, United Health Care, and Availity) is a must.
2 years experience Healthcare Experience /Knowledge are required.
Excel knowledge (low to intermediate level user).
Attention to detail is a must.
Excellent phone etiquette is a must.
Strong work ethic is a must.
HIPPA knowledge is a must.
Team Player is a must.
Experience/Education Required:
HS Diploma or equivalent
