Description
The Job Captain is responsible for the day-to-day development, coordination and checking of the drawings required to make a project ready for bidding and construction.
- In conjunction with the Project Architect, Designer or Engineer, develop the detailed approach for executing the work
- Accurately estimate the time to complete the work
- Advise the Project Manager of any potential additional services, before proceeding to work on them
- Prepare the cartoon set
- Organize and maintain the CAD/Revit files
- Assign work to the Technical Designers
- Understanding and coordinating other disciplines drawings and the design intent
- Coordinate all work and activities with DES in house disciplines and outside consultants
- Prepare complete concise construction documents that comply with the program and are consistent with the design intent and construction budget
- Provide input to the architectural specification sections
- Provide input to the design and construction schedule
- Provide input for the construction cost estimate
- Ensure that changes and redlines are incorporated into construction documents
- Ongoing review and checking of the documents for accuracy and completeness
- Overall coordination that all drawings are complete and properly cross referenced
- Advise the Project Architect, Designer or Engineer when the drawings and specifications are complete and ready to be issued
- Adhere to all DES standards and procedures
- Be proficient with all DES software programs required for this job function
- Provide input for the staff performance reviews as requested
- Lead and document internal and external meetings
- Develop less experienced staff and mentor them with their project assignments
- Provide support for any tasks required for the successful completion of the project
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Highly skilled in Revit
- Ability to gain the trust and confidence of the Consultants, Contractors, and the DES project team
- Proven ability to function in all phases of the project development from schematic design through contract administration
- Ability to sketch and think three dimensionally
- Knowledge of technical design and documentation of office, R&D and high-rise buildings
- Knowledge of environmentally friendly design concepts and products
- Understanding of all current code requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, or a related field
- Hybrid work environment, work onsite in our Redwood City or San Francisco office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without any restrictions or requirement of sponsorship now or in the future
- The typical pay range for this position is $75,000 - $107,000 in total compensation. Compensation depends on the individual's skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
