WHAT YOU’LL DO
DES is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a significant track record in managing Healthcare projects as well as familiarity in the healthcare market. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the overall success of the project and will serve as the day-to-day contact person for the client. In addition to managing projects, this role will involve identifying opportunities to expand client relationships and generate new business. The Project Manager will also support strategic growth initiatives, including assisting with proposals, presentations, and cultivating long-term partnerships. This position requires robust business management expertise, exceptional leadership abilities, superior organizational and time management skills, and proficiency in communication and team building.
- Provide technical leadership, documentation coordination, leading project team assignments in a collaborative atmosphere that fosters teamwork and mentorship
- Responsible for meeting the overall project schedule, fee, and construction budget
- Organize the project team and direct work to DES in-house disciplines and outside consultants in an effective manner
- Establish and monitor work plan, project budget and pro?tability
- Lead and document internal and external meetings
- Oversee and manage production of construction documents for ground-up core & shell as well as renovation projects
- Provide technical expertise to ensure coordinated, high quality construction documents
- Proactively coordinate effectively with clients, project team, consultants and contractors gaining their trust and con?dence
- Conduct construction administration activities including site visits, RFI responses, submittal and punch list reviews
- Assist the Project Executive with preparation and execution of all contracts and agreements
- Develop project proposals, execution plans and fees in conjunction with the Project Executive
- Mentor and develop junior team members by coaching them on effective client engagement and project execution strategies
- Assure a positive teamwork atmosphere and assist in supporting the development and retention of employees including training/development/mentoring
- Participate in marketing interviews and presentations
- Develop new and nurture existing clients

- Ability to approach challenging situations, develop workable solutions, and can handle both small and large projects with confidence
Requirements
- Architectural Degree
- Licensed Architect preferred (CA license preferred)
- Minimum 10 - 15 years of experience as a Project Manager leading complex healthcare projects
- A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in the Healthcare market sector. Candidates with SF Bay Area experience preferred, but other geographical areas will be considered
- Experience in HCAI/OSHPD-oriented project work
- Proven ability to function in all phases of the project development from schematic design through project closeout
- Knowledge of technical design and documentation of healthcare buildings
- Proficiency in CA Building Codes and agency requirements
- Proficiency in the technical skills of the following computer skills:
- MS Office, including Word, Excel and Project
- AutoCAD and Revit
- Technical knowledge and ability to lead complex problem-solving processes
- Utilize network in marketing efforts and business development
- Involvement in industry thought leadership
- Ability to be client focused and make connections with clients to build long-term relationships
- Ability to coordinate and lead the proposal writing process
- Ability to develop, mentor, and manage a team effectively while producing quantifiable results
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to multiple schedules and deadlines
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, multi-task and use time effectively
- Be flexible, adaptable, and ready to contribute where additional tasks are needed to ensure project success
- Strong interpersonal skills, verbal, listening and written, including client presentation skills
- Hybrid work environment, work onsite in our Redwood City or San Francisco office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without any restrictions or requirement of sponsorship now or in the future
The typical pay range for this position is $130,000 - $190,000 in total compensation. Compensation depends on the individual's skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
