Starting salary: $119,915 – $141,077
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The starting salary range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs leads Student Affairs Assessment, advances strategies for student success and outcomes, and provides leadership and support to the Career Advantage/high school programming student services department. The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Student Affairs assists the Vice President with the management and operation of the division and supports the ongoing strategic plan and continuous improvement initiatives. The Associate Vice President of Student Affairs represents and acts as Vice President, as needed.

Essential Functions
In collaboration with the Vice President for Student Affairs, evaluate and assist in providing leadership on the ongoing evaluation and growth of the division. Serve as the chief collaborator on special projects, initiatives, and cross-functional implementations led by the Student Affairs division. Set agendas and priorities for divisional meetings and events and represent division on appropriate committees and task forces. Represent and serve as the Vice President, as needed.

Serve as the lead for Student Affairs Assessment, assisting functional units in completing evaluations and monitoring initiatives and progress related to continuous improvement. Serve as a lead investigator for potential student affairs related grants or on those for the broader college with student affairs related impacts. Make recommendations to the VP based on data and best practices.

Oversee assigned areas within the Student Affairs division, specifically, Career Advantage student affairs functions. Collaborate with the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs as the partner in support Career Advantage academic affairs functions. Lead the initiative in ensuring a smooth transition between high school and college, including for students matriculating to DMACC.

Supervise staff. Recommend personnel actions related to hiring, compensation, performance evaluations, training, leaves, discipline, grievances, work schedules and assignments. Administer personnel and related policies and procedures per the CBA and the EEO/AA plan.

Support district staff in navigating escalated, time-sensitive, or unique student scenarios. Provide support and oversight to the Dean of Students and Judicial Officer on issues that pertain to Student Conduct, BIT Team, and Title IX. Serve as an escalation point to student issues to ensure support, outcomes, and regulatory compliance.

Provide guidance, direction, and accountability towards the continued implementation and maintenance for the college’s Guided Pathways model and concepts for the Student Affairs departments. Responsible for the ongoing planning and assessment of the model through the division and departments.

Required Qualifications
Master’s in postsecondary education, career/technical education, student personnel, adult education, or other subject area offered in the department with five years experience in a professional student services area, including two years in an administrative or leadership role.

Working knowledge of student affairs principles and conduct issues.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships, including collaborating with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds.

Demonstrated ability to communicate with both internal and external constituents.

Demonstrated knowledge in planning, organizing, administering and assessment of student services and programs.

Demonstrated competency working with strategic planning and/or accreditation processes.

Knowledge of current software applications with an ability to develop and use spreadsheets.

Ability to use, analyze, and report data to various audiences.

Ability to plan, organize, and manage time.

Desired Qualifications
Doctorate in higher education, student services, or related subject area.

Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy.

Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a multi-campus environment.
