Job Summary
Work one-on-one with students, helping them be successful in their class by assisting in the following areas: organization, self-advocacy, communication, time management, independence, reading comprehension, comprehension of material, quality of work, test taking, personal behavior, and problem-solving skills. Collect data for IEP progress monitoring and communicate to the coordinator regarding concerns and needs of students and the information the school district needs. Communicate with instructors regarding students’ needs and accommodations. A person in this position would be responsible for roughly 9 students and meeting with each student twice a week. The position is an hourly position working roughly 750-800 hours in an academic year (late August- early May).
Essential Functions
Sitting for long periods of time tutoring students, monitoring progress, and communicating with DMACC faculty, students, parents, and school districts. Assisting students with preparing for tests, helping them write papers and do projects, and signing up for appropriate classes.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Experience working with students with learning difficulties
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage time and prioritize work
Ability to multi-task
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of high school and college-level math and the ability to assist student with math courses
Experience with Banner.
