DAYS: 190 Calendar Days HOURS: 8 Hour Day
BASIC FUNCTION:
Utilizes District Code of Conduct and attendance policies to provide active engagement throughout the school building and school property to increase the level of safety, community building and positive student relationships in support of an orderly school and community environment. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the building.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Build positive and quality relationships with students, staff, and community members.
- Actively supervise any designated area directed by administrators, such as parking lots, building entrances, locker rooms, halls, stairways, restrooms, and evening activities.
- Serve as the first response to requests for assistance from classroom teachers or to hallway disruptions.
- Assess the scene, de-escalate, build positive rapport, and request additional assistance as needed.
- Clarify student expectations and encourage students to take responsibility for their actions.
- Refer all violations of discipline and attendance policies to administration or designee.
- Maintain training and best practices in de-escalation and restorative practices.
- Maintain training and best practices in seizure and detainment of dangerous materials/weapons and physical holds (CPI).
- Maintain a record keeping system for student behavior violations and for parking violations.
- Maintain communications with administration, restoration safety coordinator, and other campus monitors.
- Verify students and visitors in the school hallway have permission to be in the hallway during school hours and escort those without permission to the appropriate location.
- Provide supervision at selected evening school activities.
- Respond to calls from homes and businesses in close proximity to the school regarding student support
- Make home visits with the school social worker, building administrator, or school nurse.
- Provide court testimony in cases involving student victims or crimes.
- Respond to student reports of theft, locker problems, car vandalism or conflicts.
- Provide support and restraint (if necessary) to prevent a student from harming themselves or others or to prevent a breach of discipline.
- Direct movement of students and staff in emergency situations.
- Assist the school nurse in emergency situations.
- Escort students from class to the school office when requested.
- Escort students in hallways during class time without passes back to their classrooms.
- Provide frequent checks and surveillance of faculty and student parking lots.
- Check areas adjacent to school grounds.
- Bring visitors to the office or escort them out of the building.
- Supervise bus loading and unloading before and after school.

- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High School Diploma, HiSET or G.E.D.
- Experience working in a culturally diverse environment.
Desired:
- College degree or police/security training.
