TITLE: Special Education Records and Reports Support Assistant
PAY RANGE (Low to Mid): $23.41 - $27.63
HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or other specialized training.
- Five years of office experience
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and student management software.
- Ability to solve problems, work independently, and communicate effectively.
- Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Maintain databases on all district special education students and provide reports related to student information and IEP requirements. The essential functions as shown below represent
only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the student and family services department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as the State IEP System (Achieve) Data Lead and Data Tech, including Special Education Count Dashboard Editor, and point person for the Family Contact Validation process.
- Provide System Support for all users of the Achieve system.
- Serve as Achieve User Manager- assign permissions, roles and services for staff.
- Update and maintain accurate special education rosters.
- Supply Student Records with copies of IEP's as requested.
- Verify students' special education status with Student Records, Open Enrollment, Consultants, etc. as requested.
- Maintain both tuition in and tuition out databases.
- Enter information into the State Tuition Billing System for out-of -district students being served in Des Moines
- Send semester and year end tuition bills to districts via the State Tuition Billing system, Supply the Business Office with a report of what was billed to each district.
- Provide general and special education billing for Orchard Place and Lutheran Hospital
- Update Infinite Campus with Student's special education information.
- Run Achieve reports and regularly compare them with Infinite Campus reports.
- Provide Executive Driector, Directors, and Consultants report as requsted/needed.
- Maintain special education and support services rosters.
- Generate and maintain all special education reports required by the AEA, State and Federal Government, including assistance with the Certified Annual Report.
- Communicate with administrators from other school districts and AEA's regarding tuition in and out.
- Perform the October Certified count for special education students.

- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (vary by individual job assignment):
Are as Follows: Frequent computer and telephone use while sitting at a desk. Occasional standing, walking, bending/stooping , reaching/pushing/pulling, climbing stairs, and driving. Must have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and carry items/equipment up to 20 feet.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoors the majority of the time.
