BASIC FUNCTION :
The Instructional Technology Coordinator is responsible for sustaining instructional tools, professional development, integration strategies, and co-management of district-owned applications in support of teaching & learning. The Instructional Technology Coordinator will collaborate with the Director of Digital Literacy and Instructional Technology to support teachers, administrators, technical staff, and vendors to enhance the educational experience using technology. Responsibilities include collaborating with the IT team to reach the fully realized vision, training educators, cultivating relationships, managing hardware and software systems, and ensuring seamless technology integration to develop innovative and transformative learning pathways as aligned with the district mission, vision, and goals. This role is in direct support of teaching and learning and has a high impact on student outcomes. This position requires continuous use of independent judgment. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Collaborate with team members responsible for Instructional Technology functions, including technology integration, professional development, support, and mentorship.
2. Support the strategic vision and plan for a technology-rich learning experience with effective, research-based strategies targeted for district-wide implementation aligned with DMPS pedagogical principles and adopted curricula.
3. Collaborate with several key departments : Teaching and Learning, Data, Assessment, and Evaluation, Assistive Technology, Student Services.
4. Design and deliver technology-related professional development sessions for staff. Offer just-in-time professional development to teachers on amending their teaching practices to include new and emerging technology tools and software programs. Facilitate professional development workshops for building and district Professional Learning Communities, as needed.
5. Apply the most current and aligned instructional design models, effective learning theories and principles, and creativity in focused implementation of technology as an accelerator of student learning and outcomes.
6. Sustain the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAl) policy for the district. Collaborate with a cross-functional innovation committee directed to guide GenAl adoption in the classrooms and implementation district-wide for teaching and learning.
7. Collaborate with coordinators in Teaching & Learning in the identification and integration of technology within their area of expertise.
8. Assist in the development and implementation of new digital literacy initiatives.
9. Sustain and oversee the district-wide online course development process and catalog, including staff training, instructional design, and quality course design reviews.
10. Assure that state and district standards and scholarly expectations set forth by DMPS are met and exceeded with the use of technology tools.
11. Strengthen professional development programs relating to best practices in online teaching, LMS usage and protocols, and other academic initiatives.
12. Foster accessibility in online, in-person, and blended learning environments. This includes compliance with federal regulations, support, and talent development with staff in designing
accessible course materials, problem-solving to address accommodation requests from students or faculty and adaptation of course materials.
13. Regularly use data to determine areas of district greatest need and opportunity that could be effectively supported with a blended learning program (schools, grade levels, subject areas, geographic regions, student populations, after school and summer programs, etc.).
14. Assist and provide navigation support of reviews for procuring technology applications in support of teaching and learning to maintain a healthy and hygienic educational application environment aligned to DMPS pedagogical practices, student outcomes, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS :
Required Education and Experience :
1. Bachelor's degree in education, instructional technology, or related content areas.
2. Three or more years of experience supporting a Learning Management System, Student Information System, and Instructional Applications.
3. Three or more years of classroom teaching experience including virtual learning and / or
technology integration.
Desired Education and Experience :
1. Master's degree, preferably in instructional technology, effective teaching, curriculum and
assessment or educational leadership.
2. Specific experience using Canvas, Infinite Campus, Clever, and Microsoft 365.
3. Iowa Teaching License.
4. Experience using innovative technology solutions (i.e., Generative AI, Virtual Reality / Augmented reality, etc.).
5. Experience with online course development.
