Job Title: Camp Des Peres Director
Department: Parks and Recreation
Reports To: Recreation Specialist
Pay rate: Starting at $15.00 per hour DOQ
Availability: Must be available June 2– July 25, 2025 (7-week assignment); Off June 30-July 4
Summary: Plan, design, implement and supervise the day-to-day activities, trips and special events for campers ages 5 – 11 years. Manage and supervise up to 7 camp staff, including support staff and Counselors-in-Training (CITs). Responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable camp environment with outstanding customer service. Responsible for Before care and After care staff and supplies. Ensure the safety of all participants in the program. Responsible for following the guidelines of the Lodge Life by providing excellent customer service, empowering other team members, bringing the community together, creating experiences worth repeating and constantly improving our services. - Plans, assigns, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the camp staff.
- Enforces safety rules and regulations.
- Assists in team effort to keep all campers safe, happy and busy.
- Interacts and supervises Counselors-in-Training (CITs).
- Exercises good interpersonal skills by gladly assisting other to accomplish the work of the organization, even if it is outside the scope of regular duties.
- Coordinates emergency first aid and rescue procedures.
- Assists in the training and evaluation of staff.
- Maintains equipment and supplies in an organized, clean and safe manner
- Assigns staff to assist with special events and community activities
- Acts in a dependable manner by meeting schedules and deadlines, adhering to policies and procedures and maintaining an excellent attendance record.
- Interprets policies and procedures to staff and the public.
- Conducts in-service training and part-time staff meetings.
- Anticipate supplies needed and acquires them in a timely manner.
- Disciplines campers in an appropriate manner as needed.
- Maintains time sheets, discipline forms, accident forms, health forms as needed.
- Prepares schedule for part-time staff.
- Handles discipline problems with staff and campers.
- Maintains certification requirements for camp staff.
- Performs related work as required.
Supervisory Duties
Directly supervises camp staff. Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation, Physical Education, Tourism, Education, or other related field, plus one year of related work experience or other equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified in First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or passage of certification within three months of hiring.

Knowledge of
· Developmental milestones for children ages 5 – 11 years.
· Principles, practices and techniques of personnel supervision.
· Computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; and Desktop Publishing programs.
Ability and skills to
· Communicate effectively in interpreting policies and procedures, and in resolving conflicts or personnel problems.
· Demonstrate professional public relations skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills.
· Organize schedules for multiple facilities, staff, equipment and participants.
· Maintain time sheets, accident forms, discipline forms, outrageous actions forms, and medication forms.
· Evaluate staff and program and make changes as needed.
· Work days, early mornings, and evenings as needed.
· Supervise subordinates.
· Keep up to date with new trends in the field of Recreation.
Language and Mathematical Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of diverse people. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages

Work Environment
The Day camp environment provides for a safe and healthy environment and is smoke and drug free. Occasionally, it may be wet and humid, as well as moderately loud. The outdoor work environment may result in exposure to extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, and humidity.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
