Job Title: LIFEGUARD, Seasonal or Year-Round
Department: The Lodge Des Peres (1050 Des Peres Road; 63131)
Reports To: Aquatic Supervisor, Dylan Thomas
Pay: $15.00 - $17.50/hour depending on qualifications and experience
Availability: Must be available to work a minimum of one shift per week
Responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment with outstanding customer service and assisting with facility cleaning duties. Minimum of one shift per week: morning, daytime, evening and weekend shift schedules are based on availability of employee; may be required to work either one Friday or Saturday evening shift, if needed.Minimum age of 16.
Certification: American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR-PR, First Aid, AED and BPT.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, however other duties may be assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Enforces aquatic center rules and regulations by monitoring water and deck areas to ensure a safe swimming experience for the public.
- Assists in the opening and closing of the aquatic center by setting up the concession area, deck chairs, pool lane lines and other duties as required.
- Performs necessary tasks to insure that locker rooms, pool, pool deck, concession area, pool entrance, trash receptacles, office, storage areas, locker rooms and grounds are clean and sanitary.
- Assists with member and guest services and customer relations related questions.
- Attends staff meetings, in-services and other training sessions as scheduled to enhance job performance.
Certifications Required
Successful completion of American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens Training prior to being hired. We will interview candidates prior to attaining certification, but hiring will be dependent on the successful completion of the lifeguarding course.
