The Shop Technician is responsible for the execution of prototype shop work. This role will report to the Shop Supervisor and support project teams with machining, fabrication and welding, and other required project tasks. The Shop Technician will offer suggestions and solutions through collaboration with engineering to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain tooling and shop equipment including, but not limited to, welders, mills, lathes, lifts, heavy equipment, press brakes, and more.
- Support project work and shop tasks to maximize efficiency and ensure job delivery on time, with full commitment to quality.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians as well as designers, engineers, and outside resources to solve complex problems.
- Demonstrate and ensure knowledge of prototype shop safety procedures for shop and individual tool use.
- Aid in the troubleshooting and modification of elements to resolve any design issues.
- Assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and materials.
- Participate in the shop area and equipment maintenance to keep the area clean, orderly, and safe.
- Contribute to team effort by performing other assigned duties as needed.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of military standards and specifications, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Department of Defense (DoD) procurement policies and procedures is preferred.
- Ability to obtain security clearance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- One to four (1-4) years of experience, to include: electric arc, gas shielded arc, and gas welding. Proficient at welding as follows: executing welds in all positions, with all types of metals and alloys, in various shapes including pipes, structural forms, plates, sheet metal, bar stock, machinery and equipment. Certification and experience may not be required but must be completed upon employment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
