POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Aid Counselor evaluates financial aid application information and prepares financial aid packages for students while ensuring that the University is in compliance with the state, federal and institutional policies and regulations governing financial aid. The Counselor also advises current and prospective students and their families on financial aid procedures and processes and consults with various University offices (Admissions, Registrar, Bursar) and external agencies (lenders, and guarantee agencies) to resolve related processing, certification and payment issues. Each counselor has a designated group of students for whom financial aid counseling and processing is provided and typically oversees administrative tasks for a particular student aid program.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required
- 1 to 3 years financial aid experience preferred
- Knowledge of Federal Title IV and state regulations
- Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate with individuals and large groups required
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
- Must be computer literate
- Sensitive to issues of ethnicity, disability and diversity
