What are the responsibilities and job description for the Beertender/Tour Guide - Deschutes Brewery Tasting Room position at Deschutes Brewery?
The Deschutes Brewery Tasting Room team is currently recruiting for a part-time, seasonal Beertender/Tour Guide to join our team! This position is responsible for first impressions of Deschutes Brewery for our guests, providing extraordinary experiences that celebrate the culture of craft beer and Deschutes Brewery.
Individuals hired may be assigned to a specific focus area, however will be trained to perform all duties as listed below.
Starting pay is typically $15.00-$16.00/hour depending on experience tip pool (tips average $4-$7/hour on top of base pay depending on season)
This is a seasonal position, anticipated to begin in May of 2025 and end in September of 2025. Duration of seasonal positions may be shortened or extended based on business need.

A sense of urgency, attention to detail and commitment to quality are required. We're looking for a reliable, motivated and friendly co-owner to join our team. The right person will be outgoing, positive and team oriented. Candidates will need to have excellent communication skills and thrive in challenging environments. Night and weekend availability is required.
What you'll be doing:
- Welcoming guests to Deschutes Brewery
- Serving draft beer and sample trays with a smile to guests in the Tasting Room/ Beer Garden and help them find their new favorite brew
- Curbside Pick-up, order management and delivery to waiting vehicles, including keg sales and OLCC paperwork
- Leading groups of people on tours of the facility, private tastings, and classes
- Executing opening and closing duties of the Tasting Room, which may include cleaning draft towers, setting up stools and tables, restocking merchandise, or opening cash drawers
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and stocked throughout your shift
- Handle payments and maintain a smooth, efficient flow of service
- Follow food safety protocols and ensure a clean, sanitary environment
- Serve alcohol responsibly and in accordance with all laws and company policy
- Work shifts that may include outdoor or semi-outdoor settings - expect to work in hot or cold weather
- Supporting an inclusive and equitable workplace and follow all Deschutes Brewery practices, policies, and procedures to ensure a respectful and welcoming work environment for all
- Other related duties as assigned

- Previous bar or service experience is a must but not required

Required Qualifications:
- Valid OLCC Servers Permit at time of hire required
- Food handlers certification preferred upon hire; required within 30 days of hire
- Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude
- Must be able to speak in front of groups of up to 20 people and comfortable communicating in a group setting with diverse groups/folks from a variety of backgrounds
- Ability to remain calm and enthusiastic in a high stress/busy environment
- Passion for craft beer, and enthusiasm to learn more
- Must have consistent weekend availability
- Previous experience in the service industry or other customer-facing role is preferred, but not required
