Deschutes Brewery is currently hiring for a Full-Time Millwright/Welder-Fabricator Technician. The schedule for this role is 4-10s (10 hour shifts, 4 days a week) from 5:00am to 3:30pm, Tuesday - Friday. Compensation offered to the candidate hired into this role depends on previous experience, skills and education/certifications and starts at a minimum of $24.51 per hour, with an additional $3.00 per hour more for night shift differential (for any hours worked between 6pm and 6am). This position offers a career path up to $36.21 per hour for technician employees who successfully complete our internal training program and hold several years of experience working for us. Additionally, we offer more opportunities for wage increases also associated with cross-training, promotional opportunities and trade specialization (i.e. LME, Journeyman Electrician, HVAC, etc.).

Millwright / welder fabricator technicians help support the production and packaging of our Damn Tasty Beer! This position is responsible for maximizing efficiencies and reducing downtime to a minimum by proactively monitoring and maintaining our state-of-the-art equipment. You will perform welding, fitting, fabrication, and finishing duties in the beverage industry. This high-level position will require advanced experience and skills with precision welding of various materials, including in-place welding of thin-walled stainless steel tubing systems. The Welder will help lead small projects and function as a team member of larger projects. Ideal candidates will be familiar with the maintenance and operation of a variety of utilities that support our operation to include: Steam Boilers and related equipment, CO2 delivery systems, Electrical distribution and Control systems, Water, Wastewater, Chemical and Compressed air delivery systems, Glycol Chillers and related support equipment. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Fabricate and modify parts, structures, and equipment using welding, machining, and other metalworking techniques
• Ability to safely and properly use all basic lifting equipment and devices
• Ability to evaluate, plan, secure, and safety lift, locate, and secure equipment and components into place
• Install and maintain both manual and automated brewery equipment to stringent specifications
• Develop & perform preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance tasks for the brew house, equipment packaging lines, and other critical brewery mechanical systems
• Keep records of repairs and develop or make necessary changes to planned maintenance schedule
• Work with equipment operators to identify areas of required maintenance before equipment failure
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair brewery and packaging equipment related problems. (i.e. mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and electronic)
• Provide urgent unscheduled repairs of packaging and brewery equipment as needed - this is especially important during unanticipated downtime
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area
• Experience in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to multi task are essential
• Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Three or more years of verifiable experience or any combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to handle the required duties of this position
• An understanding of the principles of fitting and the ability to execute with accuracy

• High level of expertise in various welding processes and techniques

• Must have a strong knowledge of safety practices for the work environment and equipment
• Demonstrable superior mechanical skills
• Ability to work with a team by actively listening and cooperatively solving problems and relates well to others
• Ability to work quickly to solve problems
• Exhibits a high degree of professionalism and commitment to following through and achieving results
• Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize both day to day and longer-term projects
• Self-motivated to achieve, or exceed, desired results
• Strong and demonstrable knowledge of mechanics and repair

Physical Requirements:

This position works in a manufacturing environment, which may expose the worker to occasional or frequent extreme conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, sound level and/or confinement.

• Strength - Lift 70 lbs. Maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 55 lbs
• Stand, walk, and or sit up to 3 hours prior to each break period
• Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and the like using feet and legs and or hand and arms Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces
• Extend both hands and arms in any direction
• Seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with the hand or hands
• Obtain impressions through the eyes of the shape, size, distance, motion, color, or other characteristics of objects
